The Men’s 3s continued their unbeaten start to the season - but were left frustrated in a goalless draw with Thame.
Having stepped up two leagues to Division 5 North for this year, eight points out of a possible 12 is a decent return, and any disappointment yesterday is a testament to how far we have already come.
We dominated the first half against Thame, creating numerous opportunities, but their young keeper denied us time and again from open play and short corners.
The message at half-time was to keep it going and the goal would come, but as the second period went on and with the floodlights playing up, Thame were content to sit deep and absorb our attacks, leading to our understandable growth in frustration and impatience to enter the D.
While their keeper continued to be busy in what turned into a frenetic fixture, we were also a little vulnerable on the counter, and George stepped up with a couple of big saves to keep our own clean sheet intact.
We continued to push for a goal, but in the end the Thame cheers at full-time offered a perfect summary of how the match played out.
A lot of positives despite the result, as we won more shorts in this game than the previous three combined, while there were strong performances across the squad. Onwards and upwards as we take on Oxford University next weekend!
