Match report by Caroline and Anna
The super 6s headed away to Newbury and Thatcham today. Both teams were in position and raring to go but we were missing something.. the umpires had disappeared!! We never found out what they were up to during those 4mins in the clubhouse (time for a cuppa maybe?) but umpires assembled and we were off!
Today we had many wins: we were enthusiastic, we had energy, we had fun, we were awarded multiple shorts (and very nearly scored from one at 33 mins but the white line moved?!?), Ava can take flicks, our presses are good (we confused the opposition and intercepted many balls), we have a few new recruits who have tricks (Flick’s commitment resulted in her face down on the pitch a few times), we were all relieved Carol’s shorts did not split (we should have put a wager on this happening), Jodie has an amazing medical kit with potions for all ailments and it may be possible for out younger players to use hockey as their voluntary activity for D of E (helping the aged access sport).
Our curry for lunch was yummy and we left the opposition happy as they headed off to celebrate 2 of the players’ hen do (we were so kind to give them a 1.0 win, 24 mins in).
Our player of the match was shared by Ava, in attack and Georgina in defense, both of whom worked tirelessly and Kermet went to Florrie, for commitment and injuries in the process.
Credits to an amazing team, in no particular order: Jodie (our brilliant captain), Georgina, Ange (top supporter and assistant side line manager today), Matilda, Caroline, Anna, Ava, Carol & Flick (new recruits), Isla (super star goalie), Charlotte, Florrie and Jules.
Subs manager, John, thank you!
Message of the day, courtesy of the amazingly well stocked ladies toilets (need to be seen to be believed!)… Put your positive pants on!!!
