WALLINGFORD’S Men’s 1s struggles continued as they suffered a heavy 9-1 defeat at second-placed PHC Chiswick in MBBO Regional Division 1.
Dan Pilbeam scored our consolation goal. The result followed a 3-2 defeat at home to Marlow the previous week, Tim Chamberlain and Tom Ferris netting. In Division 2, Tim and Ben White were on the scoresheet as our 2nd team drew 2-2 with West Hampstead 3rd on Saturday It proved to be a good reaction after a 6-1 defeat at Oxford 3rd, Nich Golding on target.
Wallingford 3rd lost 9-3 at BA Slough Ramgarhia in Division 5. It followed a brilliant 10-1 win at home to Phoenix & Ranelagh 2nd, Jack Garrod hitting a five-timer, while Steve Hudson (3), Nick Henry and Alex Wilson also scored. Division 8 West champions Wallingford 4th needed a Fraser Beland equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Reading Rovers. The previous week, Joe Quilter and Ian ‘Hadders’ Hadland scored in a 2-0 win at Oxford Hawks 7th.
In Division 9, Bill Allen was a popular goalscorer as the 5th team beat Banbury 5th 3-1 away. Kev Allen and Will Newing also netted in the victory, which followed an 8-4 loss at home to Wootton Wanderers 2nd the week before.
Wallingford’s Ladies’ 1s have secured their Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1 status for another year after successive 1-0 wins over Maidenhead 2nd and Amersham & Chalfont 2nd. Phil Morris scored in both games, taking her tally to 13 for the season. Our 2nd team remain second and a point behind leaders South Berkshire 2nd in Division 1. Sarah Lye, Heather Merryweather and Flic scored in a 3-1 win at Abingdon. The win came after a 3-1 victory at home to Maidenhead 3rd, Fon Leigh, Sarah and Louise Conlon on target.
In Division 2, Amy Lissenden also made it 13 goals for the season when hitting a hat-trick in a 6-1 win at Buckingham 3rd. Jenny Capon, Jo Porter and Dom Rodriguez scored the others. It was a fantastic reaction from the previous week when they were beaten 3-0 at home by Marlow 4th. Wallingford 4th continued their free-scoring from in a 3-3 draw against Milton Keynes 3rd in Division 5.
Ange Clements, Courteney Eatwell and Ness Bennett scored. A week previously, Ange struck twice, with Courteney and Kerry Whitfield also on target in a 4-0 win at Newbury & Thatcham 4th.
