Navy reign supreme
TWO teams from Wallingford HC battled it out in an intra club T15 cricket game at Warborough and Shillingford CC.
Team Navy came out on top, beating the Green & Whites by ten runs. Batting first, Navy found runs hard to come by due to tight bowling from Matt O’Riley and Jonny Chitty. Once the opening pair had finished, the batsmen started to make progress. Darren Barber produced the standout innings with a quickfire 20, before he was bowled by his dad Andy, while Henry Ryde hit 19. Wickets were shared across the team, with two apiece for Andy Barber and James Smith.
Matt O’Riley (21) got the Green & Whites off to a good start, only to be finally dismissed by his brother Duncan. Apart from that runs were hard to come by with four players out for ducks. Chitty (32) and Tom Bugg (20) kept the Green & Whites in the hunt. But tight bowling from Duncan O'Riley, who took impressive figures of 5-3 off three overs, and Chris Ward, 1-1 from two, saw Navy hold on for a ten-run victory.
The next and final WHCCC match is on Friday, June 29 at Turville Park CC.
