Wallingford's Ladies' 1s are still searching for their first win after they were beaten 2-1 at Oxford 3rd.
Despite controlling the Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1 game, they were unable to turn possession into goals. Wallingford started well, with Charlotte Satchwell threatening down the right. Phil Morris then went close to opening the scoring, but her deflection from Connie Potts's strike at a short corner went agonisingly wide. Wallingford looked the more likely side to find the net, but a rare Oxford attack led to the deadlock being broken. The hosts won a short corner and the ball was deflected past Nia Geary-Andrews at the near post and into the far corner. There was also nothing the goalkeeper could have done about Oxford's second, when another short corner led to the ball finding the net to make it 2-0 at the break. Wallingford continued to control the game, with Geary-Andrews making only one save throughout. Despite their efforts they were unable to make the most of a number of short corners, while Satchwell was also denied. They finally broke through on the last play, Claudia Oosterveld deflecting home from close range at a short corner. But it was only a consolation as Wallingford remain at the foot of the table.
Sarah Lye scored the only goal of the game as Wallingford Ladies' 2s recorded an impressive 1-0 win at Sonning 3rd. Back-to-back wins has helped the side climb to third in Division 1, only missing out on top spot on goal difference. Ros Schilizzi’s goal earned our 3rd team to a 1-1 draw at home to Newbury & Thatcham 3rd in Division 2. Kerry Whitfield scored twice as Wallingford 4th beat Buckingham 4th 5-1 away. Ange Clements, Ness Bennett and Carena Guthrie were also on target to earn an excellent victory.
