WHCCC 2017 Season Summary

WHCCC in action
WHCCC in action
This year WHCCC played three T20 games winning two and losing the third.

The season started at Moreton CC with a 1 wicket win.  Set a target of 117 after some good bowling by O Deasy and T Chamberlain and excellent fielding the runs were chased down in the final over, with good contributions from G Otter, O Deasy and C Chamberlain.  Great hospitality at The Bear afterwards made for a good start to the season and excitement leading to the second game.

WHCCC then traveled to Crowmarsh to play SODC.  This time WHCCC batted first and started well with the combination of D O Reilly and M Ward, further contributions from J Chitty and I Ferris saw WHCCC set a total of 164.  SODC started their chase well and had good contributions from a number of batsmen throughout the innings with only A Small able to get the better of the oppo.  SODC however ran out of overs and ended up 14 rubs short of the target.

The final game of the summer was against a new oppo for this season, Turville Park CC.  The team finally managed to find the very idyllic pitch nestled in the Chilterns and fielded first.  Turville started strongly with their opener scoring 44, a couple of strong offerings from the middle order helped Turville to a total of 148 with only T Chamberlain able to control the run scoring.  In reply WHCCC started watchfully with a good knock from T Ferris, the middle order continued in a cautious fashion with D O Reilly scoring well.  It looked like WHCCC had left themselves too much to do with over 50 runs needed form the final 4 over.  T Chamberlain and J Chitty tried to accelerate the scoring but ended up 7 runs short of the total.

A very enjoyable few games this season and thank you to all who played.
